BHS Training & Exams
Here at Tralee Equestrian Centre we have a superb track record in training students for their British Horse Society (BHS) exams over the previous 11 years.
Past students of our stables have gone on to work in all spheres of the Equine industry both in Ireland and across the globe, with many starting their own businesses'.
In 2014 Tralee Equestrian Centre successfully gained approval as an approved BHS Tourism Examinations Centre and Riding and Road safety exam venue.
Vacancies for SOLAS trainees for 2 courses.
Training towards your British Horse Society exams, you will be training & working in "Kerry's Premier Equestrian Venue".
Tralee Equestrian Centre is offering two traineeship courses in 2018 for Equestrian Tourism Ride Leader Level 2 (20 weeks) and Stage 3 Coach in Complete Horsemanship(48 weeks). Students may retain Social Welfare benefits while on the course, exams will be funded (once) by ETB. A clothing allowance of €300 will also be available.
The proposed start dates are 19th February 2018 and 3rd September 2018. The Course duration will be 20 weeks for Equestrian Tourism Ride Leader Level 2 and 48 weeks for Stage 3 Coach in Complete Horsemanship.
The training period commences with a week in Ballyfermot Training Centre (Dublin), candidates will receive QQI Level 5 First Aid or PHEEC First Aid Responder, Manual Handling, Garda Vetting and Safeguarding 1 training.
Students receive training in Equestrian Tourism Ride Leader Level 2, Ride Safe Award, Students may leave the course after 20 weeks or have the opportunity to commence Stage 2, 3 Riding, Care and Teaching. Students who have already achieved part of the course may be considered for a place on the course.

The Job
An Equestrian International Instructor is a qualified worker capable of carrying out competently the range of tasks required in the role including riding, grooming, horse handling, footing and shoeing, grassland care, watering and feeding, teaching and coaching and ride leading. You should demonstrate an aptitude for horse riding and be capable of riding a quiet, experienced horse or pony at walk, trot and canter. You must enjoy working with horses, should possess good communication skills and should enjoy working outdoors. You must be physically fit and be prepared for working unsociable hours including week-end work.
Progression
When qualified you will have opportunities to progress to senior positions in the equestrian industry through your experience and further education or training which you may undertake in areas such as the BHS Intermediate Instructor qualification.
